At Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto, giving back has always been part of who we are. Over the years, we have had the privilege of standing behind causes that reflect the values our community shares: compassion, responsibility, and a genuine care for the world around us.
As a pet-friendly resort, we know how much your beloved pets mean to you. For many of our guests and members, pets are not just companions, they are family. And family deserves to be cared for.
That belief is what brought us to Life Long Paws Foundation. We are proud to announce our partnership with this organization, whose mission aligns deeply with our own values: ensuring that no family ever has to say goodbye to a pet simply because veterinary care was out of reach.
Read on to learn more about the foundation, the problem they are solving, and how, as a Villa del Palmar guest or member, you can be part of the change.
Meet Life Long Paws Foundation
Life Long Paws Foundation was born from a moment that changed everything for its founder. Witnessing a family forced to say goodbye to their beloved pet in a veterinary emergency room, not because the animal was suffering, but simply because the cost of care was out of reach, made clear that something in the system was deeply broken.
That moment became the foundation of an organization built around one unwavering belief: no pet should be euthanized for financial reasons. Their mission is to revolutionize pet healthcare for all families, regardless of their economic situation.

The Numbers Behind the Problem
- +288% increase in vet care costs since 1997, nearly double general inflation.
- 3 million pets euthanized every year due to cost, not because of their condition.
- 52% of pet owners who skipped needed vet care in the past year.
- 66% of pet owners who can only afford $1,000 or less for an emergency.
Most pet insurance plans require full payment upfront and lack the comprehensive coverage that would actually help in a real emergency. Families are left improvising, skipping care, or facing impossible choices. The gap between what care costs and what families can afford has been growing for decades, and Life Long Paws Foundation is determined to close it.

How They Are Working to Change Things
1. Bridge the Gap
Fund financial tools that help families cover large, unexpected veterinary costs upfront, so money is not the deciding factor in a crisis.
2. Sustain Vet Clinics
Support veterinary practices in offering payment options that are realistic for working families, not just those who can pay in full on the spot.
3. Empower Pet Parents
Provide reliable education so families can plan ahead, understand their options, and make confident, informed decisions about their pets' care.
