While the entire course at TPC Danzante Bay is impeccable, it’s the front nine that really gets you into the game.
Of all the golf courses in Loreto, Mexico, it’s the opening hole at TPC Danzante Bay that lets you know you’re in for a memorable game. It takes you away from the ocean and toward the canyons with an inviting par-4, helping you start out strong. There’s a wide landing area protected by bunkers that leads to the green, which falls back into a grassy pocket. As you sink your first ball, you’ll have the opportunity to take in the surrounding beauty, an opportunity that might leave you speechless.
Here, you’ll head deeper into the mountain along an arroyo in the canyons with steep rock faces. It’s a long par-5 hole and gentle fairway, so take your time and soak up the rugged beauty of the landscape. It’s these views that make TPC Danzante Bay one of the top golf courses in Loreto Mexico
With a steep drop off on the right, hole 3 begins on a putting surface that juts out into a point before playing across the canyon. If you overshoot on this hole, the green has been built up to release the ball back towards the hole, giving you another option for how to design your shot.
Surrounded by cacti, you’ll tee off downhill into the green, approaching the first view of the sea. Before you get there, this fairway is lined by an arroyo on the right and rolling mountains on the left. The green straddles a ridge with several bunkers built into it.
Standing at the start of hole 5, you’ll have an unforgettable view of the ocean ahead of you, but its complex design with a long drive typically requires at least two shots. There are also several bunkers you’ll need to maneuver around. With an arroyo running the entire left side of the fairway, you’ll need to be mindful of your drive.
Take a longer club to get through this dogleg rise straight up the mountain through an enclosed box canyon. When you reach the green, you’ll notice it’s bracketed by bunkers, particularly to the right. Once you’ve made it here, enjoy the vast view of the mountains that makes playing at TPC Danzante Bay so rewarding.
Head back downhill from the tee with this long par 4 that’s subtle yet challenging. To avoid the arroyo, make sure to hit your drive straight down the fairway while avoiding the left bunker at the end. Play on the west side of this hole to be on par.
A long par 4 that will require a second shot, this is one of the toughest holes at TPC Danzante Bay. It has a significant downhill transition out of the canyons that brings you back towards the blue waters of the sea. Avoid the arroyo on the entire left side to make it onto the well-defended green.
Heading towards the clubhouse, this exciting drop-shot par 3 is protected by deep sand bunkers on the left, so stick towards the safer right side. However, once you get to the green, you’ll still have a technically challenging shot ahead of you. The subtle contours in the green will need you to be focused. To make sure you’re putting skills are up to par, spend some time on the putting greens that make this one of the best golf courses in Loreto Mexico.
